Sisal Carpet

Postby grahamt » Wed May 23, 2012 3:57 am

Have been asked to clean my first sisal carpet in a few days time. Anyone able to offer advice?
Have been advised there are some spots to look at, anything specific around spot removal? Things I should or shouldn't do with this type of carpet? Is it advisable to use pre-spray? or should I avoid it like the plague?

Appreciate any advice you may wish to offer.

Regards to all

Hi Graham, Me again. sisal is fantastic to clean! pre vac first, light mist of stain remover, HOST sponges and brush! try going with the "grain" as much as poss and finish the same way, I always use white brushes on sisal. looks incredible!

Hello..
The information you shared in the post related to the cleaning of the carpet is very useful. I must say that one should always use the eco friendly products so that the fabric does not get damaged with harsh chemicals.

1. There are synthetic rugs available that are much easier to clean. It is best to contact the manufacturer of the rug to learn more about the recommended cleaning instructions. Each company has their own way of treating the fibers and will have specific cleaning recommendations for your particular rug.
2.Avoid setting sisal rugs in high traffic and high moisture areas. The extra moisture leads to staining and when it is absorbed by the natural fibers they can lose their shape or shrink.
3.If there are dry stains on the rug, they can be scraped away with a blunt object such as a wooden knife. Simply drag it across the rug and then vacuum away the loosened particles.
