Reverse the brushes each time you clean out the machine. The brush bristles acquire a ‘set’ in the direction they revolve unless switched regularly. When doing daily vacuuming and pile lifting with the extractorVAC, rotate the brushes every 15-20 minutes. Note: If you have vacuumed very greasy carpet, clean brushes by running unit over a couple handfuls of HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner.

Liberator Brushes

Unplug machine from power and remove the Velcro skirt. Turn the lock on the brush cover plate 1⁄4 turn counterclockwise until it pops out. Pull up on the ring to remove the brush plate. Remove the brushes and clean out the underside of the machine. Flip the brushes end to end and replace on the opposite hex shafts.

Replace brush side plate. Press the brush guard against the brushes while replacing the side plate. If the brush side plate does not engage, rotate the hex shaft slightly until the brush side plate slips in place. Lock the lock on the side plate and replace the Velcro skirt.

Freestyle Brushes

Unplug machine from power and remove the Velcro skirt. Press spring lock to release brush guard/end cover and pull back on clip; lift out brushes. Remove brushes and clean out the underside of the machine. Switch brushes to opposite drive shafts. Brushes fit down over shaft and engage on 3 pins near bottom of shaft. Be sure brush clip snaps into position. Insert hinged bar of brush guard/end cover into lower slot. Push all the way up, depress lock button and slip brush guard into place. Freestyle brushes can be switched end-to-end if desired. Remove the screw holding the brush clip in place, reassemble at other end of brush and replace.
