There are a few styles of carpet made with cotton yarn for home use. They are manufactured by Cotton Incorporated. We have tested some samples and found that cotton can be cleaned using HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner or HOST SJ and the soft nylon brushes on the HOST Liberator, Freestyle or Reliant. The most important thing to watch for is texture distortion. Cotton is very soft and can show distortion quickly, however, we found no significant distortion is visible when using the soft nylon brushes. You many notice some loose fuzz during cleaning, but this is normal and nothing to worry about unless it becomes excessive.

Use only HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner or HOST SJ for best results; don’t use PREP or Spot Remover unless absolutely necessary. Always follow the use of liquids with a handful of HOST cleaner to absorb excess moisture and remove residue.
