This is is extremely difficult. Calcium chloride is used as an ice melting compound by many facilities. It can be tracked in and cause permanent staining on some carpets.

  1. Start by aggressively vacuuming with the HOST extractorVAC –the more the better.
  2. Mist PREP Traffic Lane Booster on the area, apply HOST cleaner and brush. Repeat this as many times as is necessary to remove the spot. It may be helpful to pack the area with HOST cleaner and allow it to dry.
  3. Sometimes using a small amount of warm water to soften up the spot will speed up the process. After applying the water, apply HOST cleaner over the area and allow to dry. Vacuum when dry.
  4. In extreme cases, flush the area with a wet extraction machine. Allow the carpet to dry and clean again with HOST cleaner to remove residue and calcium chloride wick back.
