Successful removal of blood spills will depend upon the age of the spill and whether or not someone else has tried to remove it. Often if warm or hot water has been applied to the blood spill, it can cause a permanent stain. If you are the first to attempt removal, your chances of success are very good. If the blood is fresh, blot or scrape up as much of the blood as possible. Be sure to wear rubber gloves, a mask and goggles. Apply a liberal amount of HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner to the area and brush it through the area with a brush. Then allow it to dry. Vacuum when dry. If any trace of the blood remains, apply a little more HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner and brush, then vacuum.

If the blood is dry, scrape it to remove as much as possible. Be sure to wear rubber gloves, a mask and goggles. Apply a liberal amount of HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner and brush thoroughly with the HOST extractorVAC. If there are any stubborn areas, apply a small amount of diluted PREP to a cloth and blot, for larger areas, mist the PREP over the spot. Follow immediately with more HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner. Pack a handful of HOST Dry Extraction Cleaner on the area and allow to dry. This should remove the majority of the blood. Follow the OSHA guidelines for Infectious Waste Disposal – www.osha.gov.
